2025 Golden Slipper: Blake Shinn to ride Tempted for trainer James Cummings
Victoria’s top jockey Blake Shinn has the chance to secure back-to-back Golden Slippers when he teams up with Godolphin maestro James Cummings to ride top filly Tempted at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
Godolphin maestro James Cummings has secured Melbourne’s champion jockey Blake Shinn to ride top filly Tempted in the $5 million Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
Cummings, who prepared a Golden Slipper quinella with Kiamichi and Microphone in 2019, confirmed Shinn as the new rider of Tempted, the impressive last start Reisling Stakes winner and $6 second favourite for the world’s richest two-year-old race.
Shinn, the only jockey to win premierships in Sydney and Melbourne and the leader of both the Melbourne and Australian premierships this season, replaces James McDonald who is on Wodeton, the long-time race favourite at $4.50.

Shinn is aiming to defend the Golden Slipper crown he won last year aboard the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Lady Of Camelot. He also won the race in 2016 with Capitalist for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden.
Cummings is hopeful of getting three into the Golden Slipper with Silver Slipper winner Beiwacht a confirmed starter and stablemate Aleppo Pine on the fringe of getting into the elite 16-horse field.

• RICHARD CALLANDER: Racing’s future is now in the hands of ATC members
The Godolphin stable has strong chances in four of the five Group 1 races on Saturday including their superstar colt Broadsiding in the $750,000 Rosehill Guineas (2000m).
Broadsiding, the $2 favourite for the three-year-old classic, won the Hobartville Stakes first-up easily then just failed to reel in Linebacker in the Randwick Guineas.
Cummings said Broadsiding had trained on well and would get his chance to record the fourth Group 1 win of his career.

Commemorative is back in winning form after taking out the Group 3 Wenona Girl Stakes and will take her place in the $1 million The Galaxy (1100m), a race Cummings won 12 months ago with Zapateo.
