The race that stops the nation is almost upon us, but exactly what time will the nation stop?

24 horses will head around the famous Flemington track in a gruelling 3200m race with an eye-watering prizepool of $8m on offer.

The 2022 edition of the great race will take place on November 1st and will be run at 3pm (AEDT). To make life a bit easier, here’s the times for each state.

NT: 1:30pm

QLD: 2pm

SA: 2:30pm

NSW, VIC & TAS: 3pm

The race was thrown into chaos on Friday when the second-favourite, Loft, was scratched after Racing Victoria discovered an injured tendon on the fancied foreign radar.

How to watch and live stream

There are plenty of ways to tune into the race that stops the nation.

Channel 10 is the free-to-air broadcaster for this year’s Melbourne Cup and will show the race at 3pm (AEDT). It will be also be streamed on its streaming service 10Play.

Kayo will also have live coverage of the race and with users also able to watch footage on-demand, you can catch replays if you’ve just missed out on the big race.

Another option is to stream Sky Racing’s coverage via the TAB betting app.
