Melbourne Cup 2020 live: Channel 10 reporter mooned in live cross

Channel 10's Melbourne Cup coverage has copped it all day and just as things were wrapping up, a punter showed his bum on live TV.

Viewers say Channel 10 Melbourne Cup coverage ‘absolutely sucks’ (Studio 10)

It's been a big day for Melbourne Cup action despite their being no crowds at Flemington this year.

Singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem was one of the stars of Channel 10's Melbourne Cup coverage - and dressed to impress.

The big day also saw  alt-rock band The Rubens perform their new single Time of My Life from Sydney Harbour, Pete Murray singing Found My Place from Byron Bay and The Masked Singer Australia winner and Neighbours star Bonnie Anderson on national anthem duties.

If you want to take a look at the sportier action from today, our race day blog has the results of every race and how the Cup drama unfolded, or if you're just up for a laugh, check out these revealing photos from previous years.

Reporter mooned live on Channel 10

It wouldn't be a Melbourne Cup day without some debaucherous antics and just when we thought we hadn't had much action, some rowdy revellers came through.

During a live cross to reporter Lee Steele in Perth, punters were in the background misbehaving at the Ascot racecourse.

The first person to bomb her report was a woman who licked her.

Yep, that happened:

Then came a man who jumped in to moon the camera.

The cameraman quickly zoomed in on Steele to crop him out but it was too late – the damage had been done:

And while this woman wasn't as debaucherous, we all know flouncing about in a short dress at the end of a drunken day is never a great idea.

She looks like she'll have a sore head tomorrow:

The studio quickly filled Steele in on what had unfolded behind her.

And this was her understandable reaction:

Reaction on social media was more harsh:

Jockey's cheeky act during national anthem

While many had their hands on their hearts and sang with pride during the national anthem, Dashing Willoughby jockey Michael Walker played it cool by throwing out the shakas.

What a legend. I hope he wins just for that.

Incidentally, he's the also jockey that NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian is backing in the race.

Roxy Jacenko’s $3k race outfit

PR guru and SAS contestant Roxy Jacenko has also unveiled a bold race day look, sharing a selfie wearing a camouflage dress from Dior that retails for around $3000.

She paired the dress – which appears to be made from a wetsuit like fabric – with a black hat and matching bag from the designer – adding finishing touches with personalised jewellery from Chopard and Nicholas Haywood.

Kylie shares her Melbourne Cup memories

Kylie Minogue has appeared on Channel 10's coverage and she's shared her favourite Melbourne Cup memories.

"The first memory that comes to mind is 1988, I think it was '88, where Jason Donovan and I, and maybe some other Neighbours cast members, they dressed us up," she said. I think I looked like I was about 65 years' old.

"That was a good day, so that was cemented in my memory. But I don't really have one memory. It's really the build-up and the excitement and the moment."
