French Melbourne Cup raider Lastotchka backed to win $1.5m

The big bets came flooding in during the annual Melbourne Cup Call of the Card with punters spending up big on one French mare.

French mare Lastotchka — the only mare in the Melbourne Cup — has been backed to win $1.5 million.

At the Melbourne Cup Call Of The Card at Crown Casino on Monday, the mare was the subject of some heavy bets, shortening her quote from $26 to $21, per Racenet.

She was backed to win $200,000 by Tom Waterhouse at $26 while another punter had $10,000 on at $26.

She was also backed to win $500,000 with Warren Woodcock and to win $250,000 with Lyndon Cleary, and to win $250,000 with James Filgate by Kingsley Bartholomew.

Robbie Waterhouse took a bet of $4000 at $251 on True Marvel to win $1 million, firming the Matt Smith-trained galloper to $201.

Tom Waterhouse backed Archer Stakes winner Kalapour to win $400,000 at $51 while another punter had $500 to win at $51.

One punter has had $2500 each-way on Geelong Cup winner Interpretation at $101. Other bets were $1100 to win (Tom Waterhouse) and 2 x $1000 win bets.

Pro punter Kingsley Bartholomew had $5000 on Future History at $21 with another bet of $500 each-way.

Steve Bradley had $11,000 to win on Jamie Kah’s mount, More Felons, at $31 while another punter had $10,000 on Chris Waller’s import.

Rob Waterhouse held a bet of $1000 each-way on Virtuous Circle at $301 while another punter had $500 to win at $301, firming him into $251.

The CEO of PointsBet, Sam Swannell, had $2000 on Serpentine at $51 while Tom Waterhouse backed the Lloyd Williams-owned galloper to win $200,000.

Tom Waterhouse backed his mum’s horse, Military Mission, to win $200,000 at $36 while another punter had $5000 on to collect $180,000.

There was no interest in Chris Waller’s Magical Lagoon at $201.

No bets were taken on Sheraz at $201 while one punter backed Okita Soushi to win $10,000 at $101.

One punter had $1000 each-way on roughie Daqiansweet Junior at $126 while another punter had $500 each-way.

Ashrun has been backed to win $400,000 by Tom Waterhouse at $51 while Swannell had $1500 to win at $51, shortening the Maher-Eustace galloper into $41.

The Call Of The Card betting kicked off at 2pm.

The bookies fielding at the Call Of The Card are Rob Waterhouse, James Filgate, Lyndon Cleary and Warren Woodcock.
