Magic Millions 2017: Jeff Lloyd wary of From Within spoiling shot at big double

THE words of Jeff Lloyd’s brother-in-law Glyn Schofield came closer to becoming reality after From Within firmed to favouritism with the perfect Magic Millions draw on Tuesday.

Lloyd’s task of completing the big Magic Millions double became a lot harder after Houtzen drew barrier 21.

Schofield rode From Within on debut and at the weekend said only bad luck would beat her in the Millions and that he thinks “she’s going to be way too good.”

Lloyd has known Schofield long enough to know he doesn’t make such statements rashly.

“Glyn’s a very good judge,” Lloyd said. “He’s ridden a lot of good horses and to make a statement like that, he’s obviously felt something really special. You have to respect that.

“I looked at that filly’s trials before she ran and obviously she’s very exciting and she won very cosily first up. To me, she’s a Group 1 filly.”

As a rival he is hoping the hustle and bustle of a Magic Millions might bring From Within undone at just her second start.

“It all depends on the luck in running,” he said.

From the draws, From Within, who will be ridden by Hugh Bowman on Saturday, is drawn to have more luck in running than Houtzen, but Lloyd has grown in confidence about Houtzen every time she’s raced.

“Toby (Edmonds) has always been very confident, I’ve been the more negative one, (but) she’s now showing me what obviously Toby had seen before,” he said.

“She’s maturing and she will be ready for Saturday. That run last week won’t do her any harm and if anything because she had an easy run, it will do her good.

“She will not go backwards from last Saturday’s run.”
