THE Black Caviar show has moved on but Caulfield trainer Peter Moody continues to sweep Adelaide's feature sprinting events.

After the undefeated superstar took out the Group 1 double of the Sportingbet Classic and The Goodwood in the space of a fortnight, talented mare Kulgrinda kept the good form rolling by collecting the Listed Manihi Classic (1100m) at Morphettville yesterday.

The $3.40 favourite went back off a hot pace, jockey Dom Tourneur waiting patiently before producing her in the straight.

Kulgrinda proved too strong in the run to the line, holding off Richard Jolly's Stirling Grove ($3.40) by 1¼ lengths, with Beldara a further 2¼ lengths back in third. Tourneur could not have been happier with how the race panned out.

"We had a nice run in transit, probably a little further back than she was last start, but I think that suited her," he said.

"I knew I had plenty in the tank and with Stirling Grove carrying the top weight I was always going to let down a lot better.

"So I waited for him to stalk me, hit the button and made him chase me and he was always going to find it a bit hard." Kulgrinda finished second in the Group 3 D C McKay Stakes at the same venue last start and, with plenty of speed in the race, Tourneur thought she would benefit if she settled towards the back of the field. Moody agreed.

"I actually sent him a message on the plan I had in mind and he was happy to go with that," Tourneur said.

"I was mindful that the last 100m was going to be the worry, so that's why I rode her a bit quietly and waited to have the last crack at them."

The Exceed And Excel four-year-old has now won seven of her 15 starts, collecting $378,359 in prizemoney on the way.

Tourneur thought she was the class runner of the race.

"She had their measure pretty comfortably," he said.

"I think ridden a bit quietly like she was today, she could find a better race."

Veteran hoop Jeffrey Maund picked up the riding honours on the day, taking out the daily double with My Uncle Vinny, for his wife Karen Letts-Maund, and the Fanella Livesey-prepared Selessi.
