Inspirational Girl set to resume in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes for owner-breeder Bob Peters

Bob Peters is thrilled to have Inspirational Girl back for the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes on Saturday, as the West Australian owner eyes a possible All-Star Mile bid.

Inspirational Girl will resume in the $750,000 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) on Saturday at Caulfield, as owner-breeder Bob Peters maps a course towards the $5m All Star Mile on March 19.

Group 1 Railway Stakes winner Inspirational Girl has not raced since last August, when fifth behind Behemoth in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes.

The West Australian then missed the Makybe Diva Stakes with an elevated temperature.

Inspirational Girl galloped at The Valley last Friday with All-Star Mile-nominated Danny O’Brien stablemate Callsign Mav.

The lightly-raced mare finished fourth in a Geelong trial last month with Damian Lane aboard.

“She’s handled everything well … it’s nice to see her back,” Peters said.

“It’s a fair while since she’s raced, I would think she will probably need the Orr.

“I’d be thinking a good result is coming home well and finishing well.”

Inspirational Girl is $15 with TAB for the CF Orr Stakes.

Sinawann ($3.20), I’m Thunderstruck ($5) and Tofane ($5) dominate the pre-nominations market, with Behemoth ($9) the only other potential starter in single figures.

Despite a worry about the firmness of the Caulfield circuit on Saturday, with hot weather forecast this week, Inspirational Girl must run in the Orr to be any chance for the All-Star Mile-qualifier Blamey Stakes.

The winner of the Group 2 Blamey Stakes at Flemington earns an All Star Mile wildcard.

“I’d hope they put plenty of water on (this week),” Peters said.

“You can’t have horses racing on bitumen roads, can you, and that’s what it gets like.”

Inspirational Girl is nominated for the Group 1 Australian Cup – a week before the All-Star Mile – but Peters would prefer the talented mare be ready for 1600m than trying to rush a 2000m campaign.

Peters owned the 2020 All-Star Mile quinella with Regal Power and Superstorm.

“It’s been good to me (All-Star Mile),” Peters said.

“If she’s (Inspirational Girl) finishing well and doing a good job there (Orr) it will be a good starting point.”
