I Wish I Win claims Golden Eagle win in nailbiting finish

It came down to a bob of the head on the line in a nail-biting race that left those in the stands frantically trying to see who had won.

I Wish I Win has won the 2022 Golden Eagle by a nose in a nail-biting finish to the race, narrowly edging out Fangirl.

Gypsy Goddess rounds out the placing, but it’s I Wish I Win’s day after a stunning run down the straight saw it kick clear with 200 to go.

Fangirl came storming home late but could only draw alongside I Wish I Win and it came down to who timed their dive at the line the best.

Trainer Peter Moody was over the moon after the stunning win that added another Group 1 victory to his trophy cabinet.

“Great thrill, congrats to the team. We had faith in this horse and people felt he was disappointing in Toorak but the track just didn’t suit him that day and Luke gave him a gun run today, presented him at the right time and got the job done god bless him,” Moody said.
