IT wasn’t the Gillian Heinrich winner that punters wanted but the stable was thrilled with the surge of Magic Millions two-year-old hopeful Zinzi at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The training combination of Heinrich and Ben Rodgers initially accepted with five horses in the 2YO 1200m handicap and ended up running three of them.

Punters pinned their hopes on well-backed Heinrich favourite Cool Mover but it was stablemate Zinzi ($11) who proved to be the coolest mover of all.

Henrich was all smiles as Zinzi is owned by her 20-year-old daughter Tayla and eligible for the Magic Millions Racing Women’s bonus.

Zinzi held off Cool Mover in the straight and then fought off a late challenge from second-placed Bold Kingston. “Zinzi is a Magic Millions horse and my daughter is just thrilled with her win today,” Henrich said.

Zinzi produced a good effort on debut at Eagle Farm last month but the filly was a miserable failure when she was sent to Sydney to race three weeks ago.

Heinrich revealed the Snitzel two-year-old hated wearing winkers in Sydney and so it was no surprise when she won without them yesterday.

“Her first start was really good so that’s why we took her to Sydney,” Henrich said. “Jeff Lloyd rode her on debut and he really liked her but he thought she might need winkers or blinkers.

“I put winkers on her when she went to Sydney and she jumped out and had a look at the other horses and didn’t go forward at all. When we brought her home we took the winkers back off and you saw the result today.”

Zinzi was the first Saturday city winner in over a month for jockey Tegan Harrison.
