Gerald Ryan wants dry weather for Arctic Glamour to show her best in Group 2 Golden Pendant at Rosehill

Arctic Glamour has her home track and good barrier in her favour in the Group 2 Golden Pendant but needs the weather to improve.

Golden Rose + Manikato Stakes + Grand Final? A weekend like no other!

Trainer Gerald Ryan is hopeful drying conditions will allow Arctic Glamour to show her best in Saturday’s Group 2 $400,000 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Ryan, who trains with Sterling Alexiou, is wary of a heavy track as Arctic Glamour as failed to show her best in rain-affected conditions in the past.

Sydney was lashed with consistent rain on Thursday that saw the Rosehill surface slide into the heavy range but improved weather on Friday and Saturday could see the track upgraded.

The prospect of racing Arctic Glamour on her home track from good draw in barrier two is appealing but the daughter of Frosted needs firmer footing to produce her best.

Ryan has been happy with both of Arctic Glamour’s run this time in and believes the mare heads into Saturday in good form.

Arctic Glamour surged home to just miss first up in the Group 2 Missile Stakes before finishing off nicely from back in the field in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes last start.

“She ran well last start and once again she ran one of the best sectionals in the race,” Ryan said.

“She has done well since and worked well last Saturday morning.

“If the track plays all right, I think she is there to run well again.

“I think she is right in it.”

Arctic Glamour is a $9 chance with Kerrin McEvoy aboard.

Ryan and Alexiou will have another runner in the same silks when Green Shadows lines up in the Irresistible Pools & Spas Benchmark 88 Handicap (1400m).

Green Shadows ($17) claimed eligibility for the Big Dance at his last visit to the races with a win in last month’s Goulburn Cup.

“He is going well and has had a freshen up since his win in the Goulburn Cup,” Ryan said.

“We will give him two runs leading into the Big Dance.”
