Exciting colt Gallant Son roared to a brilliant six-length debut victory at Sale on Wednesday.

The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained son of Written Tycoon, out of Group 1 mare Plucky Belle, dominated the 1100m maiden with jockey Luke Nolen aboard.

“I thought he’d come here and be very hard to beat but the way he went about it, I probably have to re-evaluate him again, he continues to improve this horse,” Nolen told Racing.com in the mounting yard interview.

Moody trained Plucky Belle to win the 2015 Coolmore Classic with Linda Meech in the saddle.

Nolen, who rode Plucky Belle in 12 of her 26 starts for three wins, said Gallant Son has “a lot of her traits.”

“He’s a nice mover, so he will probably be even better on top of the ground too, he has it all in front of him,” Nolen said.

“Mum (Plucky Belle) was a bit the same, I had a bit to do with her at Pete’s … and I think this bloke has got a lot of her traits.

"This is absolutely all over!"

“He’s got a nice pedigree, we have ticked one box today, making him a two-year-old winner, but no doubt on that effort today we will win better races.”

Gallant Son returned $6.50 with TAB.

Crime Of Passion, a $1.1m yearling purchase, trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, finished second on debut from favourite Flattered, a multiple stakes’ placed filly prepared by Patrick Payne.

Meanwhile, Eternal, trained by Chris Waller, was a comfortable winner of the second two-year-old race on the Sale card.

Eternal, ridden by Jye McNeil, surged past Gambino over the concluding stages to win by 3.25 lengths in 1:06.53 — 1.2 seconds slower than Gallant Son.

The Moody-Coleman yard has first-starter Butternut Princess in the 1000m Two-Year-Old Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday.

Roll On High on Wednesday drew barrier four for the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
