Four Queensland jockeys were lucky to escape serious injury after a horror race fall at Ipswich on Thursday.

Mark Du Plessis, Nikita Beriman, Tiffani Brooker and star apprentice Emily Lang all crashed to the turf when the leader, the $1.30 favourite Fast Fun, faltered and fell with Beriman in the saddle.

Several of the horses who were following were unable to avoid the fallen horse in the QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate, creating a domino of fallen riders.

Fast Fun sadly had to be euthanised while Zouchase, Haz Styles and Shaque D’amour appeared to have avoided serious injury and were taken back to the tie-up stalls for further veterinary assessment.

The Australian Jockeys’ Association reported Beriman, Lang and Brooker all walked back to the jockeys’ room although Beriman was later taken to hospital with neck pain.

Du Plessis fared the worst in the incident and was treated on track before being taken hospital with issues including a rib injury, a possible broken hand and possible concussion.

He was conscious and had his partner by his side in hospital.

Lang and Brooker were not injured, as all four of the jockeys were stood down from their remaining rides at Ipswich.

From a betting perspective, placings stood as is, with Divine Source ($6.50) declared the winner with just three other finishers.
