Enxuto aiming to extend winning streak in Golden Mile at Bendigo
Trainer Robbie Griffiths will have a crack and hope for some luck with in-form galloper Enxuto in Saturday’s Golden Mile at Bendigo.
Trainer Robbie Griffiths is thrilled with Enxuto in the Listed Golden Mile (1600m) at Bendigo but for the terrible draw on Saturday.
Progressive gelding Enxuto, in pursuit of a fifth straight win, has barrier 16 in the $200,000 feature.

Enxuto is a $5 favourite from in-form Smokin’ Princess ($5.50), Regal Zeus ($7), Windstorm ($7.50) and Aramco ($9).
“He’s been going super,” Griffiths said.
“It’s hard to win one let alone four straight, to win five is so difficult.
“Probably would’ve been happy if he drew (middle) now he’s drawn 16, anyway, it is what it is.”
Enxuto is seven starts into a profitable campaign which included back-to-back Flemington wins.
The four-year-old son of Lean Mean Machine has warranted a shot at the Golden Mile despite the tricky draw.

“Those races don’t come around every day,” Griffiths said.
“If it’s a Benchmark 64 and there’s a lot of races around each week you go bugger it I’ll scratch but it’s a Golden Mile, $200,000 Listed race and he’s a 91 rater so what are you scratching for?
“You turn up, have a crack hoping (for a bit of luck).”
Enxuto could be spelled after Saturday for spring but a Queensland winter cameo is also an option.
“He doesn’t like it soft so how far do we go with him,” Griffiths said.
“Sydney is too hit and miss with weather, we might look at that, maybe Queensland, but he’s getting a bit long in his preparation.
“We’ll probably just rest and get him ready for Benchmark 90s in the spring and if he takes another step he can run his way into Listed and Group 3 races.”

Griffiths has Liberami in a 1600m Benchmark 74 on Saturday at Bendigo.
Liberami has been runner-up the past two starts at Sandown behind progressive King Zephyr and No Fuss.
“He was really good last start, going to run his way into contention on Saturday for sure,” Griffiths said.
“He’s really knocking on the door, he could very easily be a winner on Saturday, hope so.”
