Derby Day goes off at Flemington Racecourse as punters let loose
Punters were out to have some fun at Flemington Racecourse for Derby Day as Australia gears up for the Melbourne Cup.
It didn’t take long for the high heels to come off as the punters got loose for Derby Day at Flemington Racecourse.
It was a classic Melbourne day with the weather switching from hot to cold and rainy, then back again.
The beautiful, famous people took centre stage of course, but there were plenty of punters getting amongst it too.
And at one point, AFL icons Brendan Fevola, Dane Swan and Wayne Carey were seen assembled in Derby Day marquee, an image that immediately went viral.
These are some of the wildest photos of the day.
The entire crowd was forced to imitate a colony of penguins. The strict dress code meant attendees could only wear black and white outfits.
There was also a long list of “style no-no’s” including denim of any kind, outfits that feature cut-outs and clothes with tears or rips.
But that didn’t stop people forcing their way into photographic prominence.
