Top WA trainers Grant and Alana Williams have decided to branch out across the Nullarbor by opening a satellite stable in Victoria next year.

The couple trained exclusively for powerful Perth owner Bob Peters, combining for several rich successes in Victoria, including last year’s All-Star Mile with Regal Power.

Arcadia Queen also gave the couple Group 1 wins in the Caulfield Stakes and Mackinnon Stakes in 2020.

Celebrity Queen was another to deliver Victorian Group 1 success for the combination when she dead-heated for first in the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield in February.

The pair will continue their outstanding partnership with Peters but now want to expand their business to attract outside owners on both sides of the country from January.

“The racing industry is consistently growing and evolving and we need to continue to develop our business model so as to provide a strong platform for continued success,” Grant Williams said.

Alana Williams said the fact she rides most of the stable’s trackwork gave her and Grant the right skillset to succeed in Victoria.

“I’m excited for what the future holds for both Grant and myself,” she said.

“I still enjoy riding work and feel the unique dynamic Grant and I have of me being on the horses and him running operations on the ground gives us that special edge which most training operations don’t have.”

The Williams stable will announce the location of its Victorian operation in the coming weeks.

Grant Williams trained his visiting team out of stables at Bendigo in previous eastern raids.
