THE money is flowing on the Caulfield Cup today and punters are finding reasons to back Royal Descent to upset stablemate and race favourite Hawkspur.

PUNTERS have taken a strong fancy to the Chris Waller-trained four-year-old mare Royal Descent to beat her stablemate Hawkspur in the Caulfield Cup. The mare has firmed from $8 to $6 and is pushing for favouritism.

German Derby winner Waldpark has been the big shortener from long odds, firming from $41 to $26.

The Cup, which will be the last race at 5.45pm, will be run on a hard and fast track. Trackman Jason Kerr put 6mm or irrigation on the track on Friday afternoon, taking the total to 22mm for the past seven days.

However the track was rated a Dead 4 at dawn and with the temperature expected to rise to 28 degrees, a Good 3 rating will be posted early as the track continues to dry out.

SUGGESTED BET: Royal Descent each way.
One of the big goes of the day is Hucklebuck in the Gothic Stakes. The unlucky runner at Moonee Valley San last start has shortened to $2.80.

San Diego is another to grab attention in the Norman Robinson Stakes, a build-up to the VRC Derby. He has firmed from $6 into $5.50 and looks primed to win.

Shamal Wind drops 5kg on her last run and looks ideally suited by the distance and weight. She has firmed from $6.50 into $5.50.

She Can Skate is the talk of the track in the Alinghi Stakes. She has firmed from $5 into $4.20.

SUGGESTED BET: She Can Skate to win.

Arabian Gold has firmed from $6 into $4.40 for the Ethereal Stakes and continues to gain support.
