Best bets for Wednesday's metropolitan meetings
Our experts have done the form and found their best bets for today's metropolitan meetings at Warwick Farm, Ballarat and Eagle Farm.
Ray Hickson
Race 1 No. 3
PERPLEXITY
In-form stayer who won a similar race at his last start and meets the runner-up 5kg better for doing it easily. Only has to handle the conditions to go back-to-back.
Shayne O'Cass
Race 2, No. 7
THE ALFONSO
He was bred by Peter Moody, who trained his sire. The Alfonso was tipped out after his solid fourth to Bull Point in a deep holiday Monday race at Randwick where Sweet Kiss finished second. He resumed here at Warwick Farm in a 1000m race on October 30, finishing fourth of the five starters, beaten 2.7-lengths in fast time. Betting - $11 into $8.50. He was back last of the five throughout and came up along the rails which was definitely the worst going.
Christian Nicolussi
Race 4, No. 2
MADE TO ORDER
She wasn't disgraced on debut and bound to strip fitter. She's drawn ideally and has Nash Rawiller on board.
Simon Thomas
Race 6, No. 5
NAT KING CU
Underrated Canberra trained gelding resuming after an unlucky preparation when last in work. Carried big weights when behind some handy horses and looks placed to advantage today with the sting out of the ground.
Ballarat
Michael Manley
Race 7, No. 2
BIA DIAMOND
Super consistent mare who often finds one better. One of her only three wins has been here at her home track. Great run last start when second to top mare Queenstown reads well for this. Looks a great each-way bet.
Eagle Farm
Nathan Exelby
Race 7, No. 5
L'ENTRECOTE
Put the writing on the wall with good second in strong maiden figures then ran away to win with ease at Ipswich. This looks logical next step before taking the natural progression to Saturday grade.
