Lindsay Park has rolled out three big guns in the quest for $5 million All-Star Mile glory at Caulfield in March.

Victoria’s premier stable has nominated Cape Of Good Hope, So Si Bon and Fifty Stars for the March 14 contest, joining a host of quality early entries.

Bound for Hong Kong next year, David Hayes is intent on departing Australian racing on a high.

Last year Hayes saddled Amphitrite (sixth) and Hawkshot (seventh) before the pair chased home Tasmania’s Mystic Journey in the inaugural running of the race.

Cape Of Good Hope developed an immediate affinity with The Heath by winning the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) in October. Hayes hopes to develop the son of Galileo into a sprinter-miler to boost the four-year-old’s stud value.

Reigning champion Mystic Journey, current joint TAB $8 favourite with Kolding and Melody Belle, will resume in Tasmania next month as part of her defence.

Trainer Adam Trinder is likely to start the mare in the $50,000 Listed Sky Stakes (1200m) at Launceston on January 29 before heading to the $100,000 Listed Thomas Lyons Stakes (1400m) at Hobart on February 9.

While the first edition of the All-Star Mile rated highly based on individual horse ratings, Caulfield’s renewal could be even stronger.

New Zealand is likely to be represented for the first time after the nominations of 10-time Group 1 winner Melody Belle and Te Akau Shark, who ran third in the Cox Plate to Lys Gracieux.

The pair could be joined by emergent Kiwi Catalyst.

Other early nominations include dual Group 1 winner Fierce Impact and Caulfield Guineas runner-up Alligator Blood.

Nominations for the 2020 All-Star Mile close on January 9 ahead of a public vote from January 16 to select 10 of the 15 runners.
