All Aged Stakes quinella English and Black Heart Bart set for Stradbroke re-match

THE final day of the Sydney autumn shapes as an enticing prelude to the Brisbane winter carnival with English and Black Heart Bart likely to clash against each other.

THE final day of the Sydney autumn shapes as an enticing prelude to the Brisbane winter carnival.

English and Black Heart Bart, separated by a head in Saturday’s All Aged Stakes at Randwick, are likely to clash at least once in Brisbane.

Trainer Darren Weir will be without the injured Lucky Hussler for races such as the rich Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm on June 11, but the Stradbroke will be the destination for Black Heart Bart, possibly via Adelaide.

Weir’s options are either The Goodwood at Morphettville on May 21 or the Doomben 10,000 a week later for Black Heart Bart, on his way to the Stradbroke.

Trainer Gai Waterhouse said on Saturday that English would head north, with the 10,000 and Stradbroke likely targets.

English and Black Heart Bart share TAB’s third line of betting at $7 for the Stradbroke behind Azkadellia ($4) and Malaguerra ($5.50).

Azkadellia is a confirmed runner in Brisbane, but trainer Lee Freedman is yet to decide plans for Malaguerra after his luckless sixth in the All Aged.

Malaguerra’s jockey, Blake Shinn, forfeited the lead at the midway point, then struck traffic.

Freedman’s import Guardini, an impressive winner at Randwick, is being aimed at the Brisbane Cup.
