$2.2m filly Plaintiff fends off stablemate Nitro to remain unbeaten at Rosehill and earn a shot at autumn stakes glory
Trainer Peter Snowden declared Plaintiff a carnival horse after making it two from two with her fighting win at Rosehill.
Trainer Peter Snowden has declared high-priced filly Plaintiff will be set for an autumn carnival raid following her dominant Rosehill Gardens victory on Sunday.
Living up to lofty price tags is no enviable task but Plaintiff ($3.90), knocked down for a cool $2.2 million at last year’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sales, is making light work of that weight of expectation with two eye-catching wins to launch her career.
The regally bred filly looked there for the taking in Sunday’s Super Dry Handicap (1200m) before pulling out all stops late to deny stablemate Nitro ($4.20) which loomed and appeared the winner at the 100 metre mark.

“I thought Nitro had her cold,” Snowden said.
“But she just kept fighting and it’s a really good thing to see. I love horses that keep turning up, keep fighting and sticking their head out, it’s a really good sign to see.
“She really does look above average.”
Following a post race deliberation with owner John Camilleri, Snowden said the regally-bred filly (Zoustar x Prompt Response) will be targeted towards the lucrative autumn Sydney carnival.
“She’s a 100 per cent a carnival horse,” Snowden said.
“She’s asked us some questions after today. The autumn isn’t that far away so we could give her a little freshen up and then bring her back in time for the better class races.
“But in saying that there’s not a lot on early autumn for three-year-old fillies so we might even give her another run this time which wouldn’t hurt her.
“We’ll just see how she comes through today and go from there.”
While Tommy Berry was on board for Plaintiff’s debut win, Victorian hoop Jordan Childs was aboard for Sunday’s success.
Berry had already committed to riding in Brisbane on Saturday before the Sydney meeting was transferred to Sunday, and with Childs in town to ride the Camilleri-owned and Grahame Begg-trained Wings Of Desire, was ‘Johnny-on-the-spot’.

And he made the most of the opportunity with a purposeful ride.
“John flew me up this morning to ride Wings Of Desire so it was great to get on this filly as well,” Childs said.
“She is a really nice horse but you can feel she’s still figuring it all out.
“I felt I was beaten a few times down the straight but every time she sensed a horse coming she kept fighting.
“That’s a great attribute to have. I wanted to be positive from the gate and she began nicely, came back underneath me and travelled nicely.
“When I pushed the button she really responded but was floating around late.
“She’ll be better with more experience.”
Snowden said he’ll need to crunch the numbers with runner-up Nitro as he plots a potential Magic Millions path.
“He probably needed to win today (to get in),” Snowden said.
“I’m not sure he’ll have enough prize money so we’ll need to have a look at that before working out what we do with him.”
Well backed favourite Supermassive was the disappointment from the race, fading out late after starting a $1.95 favourite.
Sanctified filled third less than a length from the winner.
