WWE star Nikki Bella reveals biggest regret over split with fellow wrestler John Cena

Wrestling and reality TV star Nikki Bella has revealed her biggest regret about her break-up with fellow WWE icon John Cena.

The biggest celebrity breakups of 2019

Wrestler Nikki Bella insists she still loves former flame John Cena — and regrets how “one-sided” their split appeared.

The WWE stars split in 2018 ending their six year relationship, The Sun reports.

They got engaged in 2017 but their split was highly documented on the reality TV show Total Divas.

In an interview with Health.com, Bella — who is now in a relationship with dancer Artem Chigvintsev — admitted WWE icon Cena did not have his side of the separation shown fairly enough.

She said: “The one thing I really regret about showcasing the break-up is that no one got to hear (John’s) voice, and it just seemed so one-sided.

“I felt like that wasn’t fair to him because he was on this journey with us from the beginning.

“What people don’t realise is that John never took one paycheque from Total Bellas.

“It was beautiful — he was fully there to support me. I’ll never forget his support and his love.

“That’s what made me sad — I don’t want to say it became the Nikki show, but in a way it did because you didn’t get to see John anymore.

“My family loves John. I love John, he’s such an amazing person.

“The timing was off. But I love my family for that — they have never once been pro Nicole in this, and that is what has helped me grow. I didn’t have my family coddling me.”

Nikki Bella wishes her and Cena’s break-up had gone differently.

In June Bella revealed her relief after doctors confirmed the brain cyst they had discovered was benign, while she also confirmed her retirement.

The 36-year-old shocked her legion of supporters by announcing that the Bellas would not be making an attempt to capture WWE Women’s Tag-Team titles due to her medical issues.

“For me, I really wanted to go back and fight for the tag titles,” Bella said in June.

“I’ve always had my neck issues and after neck surgery it hasn’t been OK.

“So I felt like I needed to get that check-up before we went back for the tag titles. And then it came back I have — I herniated the disk above where I had surgery, I have all this inflammation around the metal, and then I have a cyst on my brain.

“So they were like, ‘You’re done, no more, you’re out’. So I didn’t get a choice.

“It’s super scary and something you never think you’re going to hear. But I’m so grateful for my health and that it’s benign.

“It’s something I have to watch out for the rest of my life because you never know how that can change — but I’m grateful because I know people have it a lot worse.

“It really scared me but it upsets me at the same time as it keeps me out of the ring.”
