The internet has found a new viral gymnastic sensation as Nia Dennis pulled off an incredible performance to a mashup of Beyonce songs.

A year after Dennis’ University of California Los Angeles former teammate Katelyn Ohashi broke the internet with her perfect 10 performance in the Collegiate Challenge in Anaheim, the 21-year-old has followed in her footsteps. Well, almost.

While Dennis’ routine went nuts online, she scored 9.975, just fractionally off the perfect score.

But she has grabbed plenty of attention from across the internet, including several celebrities.

Dennis flipped along to songs like “Crazy in Love” and “Ego” and ended with her hands in the shape of a crown, a huge nod to Queen Bey herself.

While she hasn’t yet been graced by a message from the queen herself, she has plenty of brand new big name fans.

“Look at this unstoppable power and confidence!! Was just talking about how nothing gives you more power then being yourself! Shine Nia Dennis, I’m inspired!!” Alicia Keys wrote.

“Nia Dennis is ending #BlackHistoryMonth the right way ― by showcasing her Black excellence. Beyoncé herself would be proud,” US Senator Kamala Harris tweeted.

“Represent,” Gabrielle Union tweeted.

“Go Nia,” American gold medal gymanist Aly Raisman wrote.

“Yes, Nia Dennis a performance to make us all proud! Inspiring, you are destined for great things. Did you have to hit the whoa on them like that?” TV star Steve Harvey tweeted.

She also featured in several Instagram stories, including the likes of Reese Witherspoon and Jada Pinkett Smith.

What makes the performance even better is that is was her 21st birthday.

No doubt Dennis celebrated her new found fame and success well.

On UCLA Gymnastics’ page, the video has 3.9m views and has done 5.1 million on Twitter.

Dennis was blown away by the reaction to her performance with the new star saying her new found fame was “surreal”.

Dennis is no stranger to the spotlight, have been on the US national team in 2012, and representing the nation in 2014 at the age of 15.

Most bizarrely though, in the competition against Utah, UCLA lost by 0.05 points.

Just over a year on from Ohashi’s performance, Dennis can learn plenty from her viral teammate.

“It was kind of crazy because I didn’t realise it was happening. I was ice skating and my phone kept going off … I went home and I had gone up 50k followers. And I was like, ‘This is weird’,” Ohashi told Olympic Channel last year.

“People were sending me screenshots of famous people tweeting me or re-posting it. At first, it was a shock. I never thought that it would go to that level.”

Ohashi stunned with her perfect 10 last year with her Michael Jackson inspired performance to “The Way You Make Me Feel” which garnered millions of views and saw her feature in ESPN’s Body Issue.
