Taylor Swift’s boyfriend branded ‘Mr Pfizer’ in NFL drama

Taylor Swift’s rumoured crush has been given a savage new nickname with his month of drama taking a very strange turn.

Who is Travis Kelce aka Taylor Swift's new lover?

NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers is now the one doling out the shots.

The injured Jets quarterback, in attendance at MetLife Stadium on Monday (AEDT) to watch the Jets host the Chiefs, poked fun at Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, the star of recent ads for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.

Kelce, the rumoured boyfriend of Taylor Swift, was held to just six receptions and 60 yards on the night as the Jets limited his effectiveness, in Rodgers’ eyes.

The rumour mill exploded when Swift was seen at Kelce’s game the previous week against Chicago after news of her supposed romance with Kelce broke.

But the star pass-catcher is now making headlines for a different reason.

“Mr. Pfizer, we kinda shut him down a little bit,” Rodgers said Tuesday on the “Pat McAfee Show.”

“He didn’t have his crazy impact game, obviously, he didn’t have his yards and stuff.”

The comment from Rodgers — who infamously revealed he did not receive a vaccine shot during the Covid pandemic — drew giggles from co-hosts Pat McAfee and A.J. Hawk.

McAfee did point out the irony of Rodgers’ comments at the end of the interview, given that Jets owner Woody Johnson is the heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune.

Johnson & Johnson, like Pfizer, is one of the proprietors of a Covid vaccine.

Still, Rodgers and Kelce did find some common ground ahead of their teams’ “Sunday Night Football” match-up.

Prior to kickoff, Kelce chatted with Rodgers, who was on crutches and recovering from surgery on his Achilles tendon.

If they talked about vaccine feelings or anything else, Rodgers was not divulging.

“I think some things need to be left on the field,” Rodgers said. “It’s a better story, probably, left up to the imagination. I saw some different things on speculation about what we were talking about. But I’ve known him for a long time, it was just a quick chat.”

It didn’t seem their difference in opinions on vaccines has affected their relationship.

“He’s doing commercials for Pfizer, I’m sure he’s owning it,” Rodgers said, though McAfee and Hawk pointed out he could have nicknamed Kelce after any of the other brands he peddles — Lowes, State Farm, Chunky Soup and Experian among them.

Still, Rodgers’ jab came back around to him when his video feed — and Hawk’s — dropped from the live show.

“While Aaron was preaching his gospel, AJ just drops off the screen completely,” McAfee laughed. “Now Aaron’s dropping out there? Hope you’re happy with your joke, Aaron. Hope you’re happy with your Mr. Prifzer joke.”

“Real funny. They’re coming after you, Aaron. They’re coming after you,” Hawk smirked.
