SHE survived a near fatal shark attack and lost an arm when she was only 13, then rose to the top of the surfing circuit. Now Bethany Hamilton has given birth to baby Tobias with husband Adam Dirks.

“Blessed to welcome our son, Tobias, into the world. Born June 1st, 7.9 lbs (3.58kg) and 21” (53.34cm) long. He is named after his great grandpa Tobias meaning “The goodness of God.” Adam and I so in love with our lil guy and are stoked to share life with him!” Hamilton revealed via Instagram.

The happy couple shared news they were expecting back in February after they released an adorable video via Youtube.

Bethany, 25, was keen to stay surfing during her pregnancy and participated in various events including the World Surf League’s Women’s pipeline invitational. “It’s crazy, but I feel like I’ve done some of my best surfing prego!” she told Fitbump 360.

Back in 2003 she was attacked by a tiger shark after dangling her arms into the water at Tunnels Beach, Kauai. Her left arm was amputated and she was then lucky to survive after losing more than 60 percent of her blood. Less than two years after the attack, she went onto win two major junior titles in the US, and only last year won the Surf ‘n’ Sea Pipeline Women’s Pro event in Hawaii.
