Sunrise star Mark Beretta confirms split from wife of 22 years, Rachel

Mark Beretta and his wife Rachel have confirmed they’re ending their marriage – just months after selling their lavish Sydney home.

Sunrise star Mark Beretta has split from his wife, Rachel, after 22 years of marriage.

The popular Seven sports presenter, 57, confirmed the separation to news.com.au on Saturday via a Seven spokesman.

“At the start of the year, after a great deal of reflection and 22 years of marriage, Rach and I came to the conclusion that a separation was best for us,” Beretta said.

“We remain good friends, and our two children and grandchild remain our focus and priority as we move forward with love, dignity, and respect.”

He has confirmed his split from his wife Rachel.

The former couple wed in 2001 after first meeting in 1999, and share two teenage children: Ava, 19 and Dan, 16.

Up until recently, the family lived in Mosman, Sydney, in a luxury home which was sold in May for $13 million after the listing price was slashed by $1.75 million.

Back in 2017, Beretta revealed he’d initially attempted to back out of a blind date with his future wife.

“[My friend] said to me, ‘If you don’t come to the Middle Park Hotel tonight, you will regret it for the rest of your life’,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

“So, I actually did a U-turn and went back. Rach and I talked for about 20 minutes, and I just went, ‘Wow, she’s awesome’.”

Beretta, who has been with Seven since the 90s, has been the sports presenter on Sunrise since 2004.

In June, he opened up about balancing the pressures of his high-profile career with his family life, gushing over his job, but admitting he’d missed out on early mornings with his kids over the years.

“Looking back, you think, I would have loved to spend more time at home, but life is what it is and you make the most of it,” he told Now To Love.

“I love my job so much and I love being with the team.

“It’s just never on my radar to change careers or to not be part of Sunrise. It’s such a magical work opportunity. I mean, we do over four hours of live TV every day, you know, a lot of people on TV don’t do that a week or a month.”
