Star’s public plea after attending Taylor Swift’s Melbourne concert

A well-known sports star has issued a public plea to any Taylor Swift fans stuck behind him at the star’s recent Melbourne concert.

A Collingwood AFL player has issued a public plea to any Taylor Swift fans stuck behind him at the star’s recent Melbourne concert, after a photo showed just how much of a raw deal they had, sat behind the 2.11m athlete.

The Texas-born, Melbourne-based AFL player shared photos of himself attending one of the weekend’s massive Swift shows at the MCG, writing that it was “such an epic weekend with amazing people.”

Cox and friends had floor seats not too far from the stage – premium-priced seats that have been met with backlash from some fans as they are not tiered, meaning shorter fans toward the back might struggle to see past people in front of them.

That was certainly the case for anyone stuck behind Cox, as the crowd rose to their feet to watch Swift perform:

Cox shared the photo above to Instagram and Twitter, putting out a public call to find the poor unfortunate Swifties who had been sat directly behind him.

“HELP NEEDED!!!! I want to find the people that sat directly behind me to give them tickets to an AFL game. If you know them please let me know,” he wrote.

And Cox might be in luck: He’s already received several responses from people claiming they were sat behind him.

It comes after some complaints from those seated on the floor that they did not have great views of Swift or the stage, which is located at one end of the stadium.

As one woman with three young children lamented to news.com.au during Friday’s show: “We would’ve been better staying home and watching a live stream (of the concert).”

Meanwhile, another detail at Melbourne’s MCG is leaving Swift’s American fanbase in disbelief, with many asking where the 96,000 fans who attended each show parked their cars.

The MCG is ringed by parkland on three sides and serviced by two major nearby train stations – a very different set-up from many major American concert venues, which are surrounded by multiple giant parking lots.
