TV presenter Jacqui Felgate has announced she is making a career switch to radio following her sudden exit from Channel 7.

Felgate, a respected newsreader who has been heavily involved in Seven’s AFL coverage, announced on Instagram earlier this month she was pursuing other opportunities.

Felgate’s role in Seven’s AFL coverage has since been filled by Abbey Gelmi.

Felgate is moving on after nearly a decade at Seven, where her role grew to include regular appearances in co-hosting the Brownlow medal presentation.

The Australian reported last week the social media influencer, who has more than 200,000 followers on Instagram, may have been displeased with recent changes to the network’s news line-up.

Now, The Herald Sun reports Felgate has landed on her feet and is joining Melbourne’s 3AW breakfast radio show.

Felgate made her first appearance on Friday. She will reportedly appear every Friday alongside hosts Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft.

She says Stevenson reached out to her to offer her the position as a result of Felgate’s previous experience with the station as a sports presenter.

She will feature as an expert foodie.

“When Ross Stevenson is kind enough to call and offer you a role on such an iconic show, I jumped at the chance,’’ Felgate said.

“There isn’t a more talented person on radio to work with and learn from.”

It comes after suggestions her split from Seven was not as amicable as first suggested.

The Australian reported Felgate was “less than impressed” when Rebecca Maddern joined the network and was immediately moved into a position co-hosting Seven’s weekend news bulletins in Melbourne

Maddern, a former host of The Footy Show at Channel 9, has been co-hosting the weekend 6pm news slot alongside Mike Amor.

Felgate’s departure comes just three months after Maddern joined the network.

Felgate became emotional when she signed off from her final sports bulletin earlier this month.

“I’m had a wonderful time here at Seven,” she said.

“The last two years have been have been really tough and I’m looking forward to being a good mum to my kids.”

The Herald Sun reports Felgate is also set to reveal a new TV project in the future.
