Social media sleuths send NBA partner swap rumour into orbit

The NBA Finals are in full swing, but social media users are locked in away from the court and believe they’ve uncovered something bizarre.

Social media sleuths believe they’ve uncovered something truly bizarre during the NBA Finals and it has nothing to do with the on-court action.

As the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics battle it out for ultimate supremacy, fans couldn't keep their eyes off the stands during Game 4.

The Warriors bounced back to level the series up at 2-2, thanks to an all-time display from superstar Stephen Curry. But it’s his parents, Dell and Sonya, who have stolen the limelight.

Dell captured the attention of basketball fans when cameras panned and showed him embracing a blonde haired woman.

Fans were equally as quick to point out Sonya appearing to be with her new flame, ex-NFL player Steven Johnson.

Dell and Sonya called it quits last year after 30-plus years of marriage, with court documents showing both alleging the other had extramarital affairs.

Sonya, in filing for divorce, cited Dell's "marital misconduct” as the reason behind the separation. Dell then submitted his own filing alleging Sonya had committed “acts of illicit sexual misconduct” during their marriage.

But after the pair were sighted with their alleged other halves during Game 4, social media went to work and believe they uncovered a story you simply won’t believe.

As photos of the former partners began circulating around social media, sleuths wanted to get to the bottom of who they were.

One user quickly pointed out the duo, who are now partnered up with Dell and Sonya respectively, used to share their own marital bed.

It didn’t take long for the truly bizarre theory to spread like wildfire across social media.

At the time of writing, the tweet has amassed more than 3,000 replies, 9,000 retweets and over 100,000 likes.

Some users however aren’t believing the theory with former NBA player Rex Chapman labelling it “100 per cent false”.

It’s a story that belongs on the pages of a Hollywood movie, but it has taken over the NBA headlines. A story we’re sure Stephen Curry doesn’t really want to read right now.

Unfortunately, despite social media sleuths best work, the story has yet to be verified.
