Shane Warne rips into New Idea and Woman’s Day to reignite war with magazines
Shane Warne has taken aim at Aussie gossip mags once again, reigniting a long-time battle after his kids have been dragged into the fray.
Australian cricket legend Shane Warne has fired a shot at Australian gossip magazines New Idea and Woman’s Day, accusing the publications of having “gone after all of my children over the years”.
Warne, who has three children with his first wife, has long been a favourite of tabloid media throughout his career with the colourful cricket legend involved in several off-field scandals.

While it wasn’t the first time, in 2018, Warne took aim at Woman’s Day over the magazine’s “constant harassment” of his family over an unsourced article that Warne’s ex-wife Simone Callaghan was “tearing her hair out” after son Jackson played in a poker competition.
It‘s unclear exactly whether it was one particular story this time or the continued media spotlight on the cricket legend despite being 13 years retired that tipped the spin king over the edge but he tore into the magazines once again.
21-year-old Jackson has been back in the spotlight after signing up to Channel 7’s SAS: Who Dares Wins but his old man’s battle with the magazines has been going on for much longer.
He fired his latest shot in a series of tweets on Monday night.
“I’ve read some crap in my time, but New Idea has taken the cake for making crap up now & it amazes me how the regulators allow this to continue in both Woman’s day and No idea! It is absolutely disgraceful & both are never held accountable for making things up? Why ?,” he tweeted.
After responding to a fan with his next tweet, Warne said he was “sick of saying nothing”.
Spot on and letâs hope the public have had enough too and decide to never purchase either of them again ! Where are the regulators ? Iâm so reluctant to ever say anything because it draws attention to the rubbish and made up articles - but sick of saying nothing ! https://t.co/2eYnwrl5ir

He then threatened to join legal action to hit back.
“I think it’s time all of us that have been wronged by both these magazines over the years get together and take them down! Any law firms out there want to co-ordinate this. Maybe the media regulators will finally put their foot down too & hold them accountable! Who’s in?,” he said.
“These trash magazines have also gone after all of my children over the years and Jackson lately too for no reason whatsoever! Just not fair or right on any level. Why haven’t the media regulators done something about this gutter journalism over the years & hold them accountable.”
While Warne has admitted over the years that he wasn’t worried by the scandals and teammate feuds splashed across tabloid pages, Warne has admitted several times his biggest concern is letting down his children.
Speaking in his six-part Week with Warnie sit down with Fox Cricket earlier in the year, Warne said the intense interest started around the Gatting ball, known as the “Ball of the Century” but that his main regret with the scandals is how it’s affected his family.
“I’m not proud of all of my decisions … I made some horrible mistakes and choices,” Warne said.
“Some of the things were really hard to take.
“I let my family down, I embarrassed my children … but that’s something I have to live with.
“But for all of those bad choices I’ve also been very proud of all the good things I’ve done. I’ve done a lot of good things, but sometimes people like to harp on about the bad things because it’s a better headline.”
