SAS Australia: The moment that finally broke Candice Warner

The soldiers have unearthed Candice Warner’s “biggest weakness” on SAS Australia, with the former Ironwoman reduced to tears.

Despite enduring countless physically-demanding challenges on Channel 7’s SAS Australia, it was a heartfelt message from Candice Warner’s family that finally broke the former Ironwoman.

During Tuesday evening’s episode of SAS Australia, the celebrities were shown video messages from their families back home as a form of psychological assessment.

While most of the other contestants seemed to enjoy the experience, Candice became visibly distressed when her husband — Australian cricketer David Warner — and two eldest children appeared on the laptop screen.

This was the first time the 35-year-old has been away from newborn Isla Rose.

“Hey darling,” David said. “We hope you are going well.”

Eldest daughter Ivy Mae continued: “I love you mum, I miss you, I hope you’re going OK.”

Indi Rae softly muttered: “Mum, I wish you would come back now. And come back when you feel like coming.

“Good luck, we’re really proud of you.”

With tears streaming down her cheeks, Candice abruptly closed the laptop and walked away, refusing to watch the rest.

Her reaction surprised the soldiers, one remarking: “Wow, I wasn’t expecting that. She seems quite f***ing strong.”

Candice conceded: “My biggest strength, but also my biggest weakness, is leaving my kids for the first time.

“I couldn’t watch it.

“I chose to sign up to SAS for my daughters, for them to be proud of their mum. I want to show them that if you really want to achieve something, you can.

“But if all of a sudden I feel uncomfortable and like I shouldn’t be there, that would be really hard.

“I really want to achieve something. I haven’t achieved anything for so long.

“Am I as strong as I think I am? I don’t know.”

Meanwhile, Jackson Warne — son of cricket icon Shane — quit the show in dramatic circumstances.

During a “pack march” challenge that tested endurance, the celebrities were tasked with running 11 kilometres uphill with weighted backpacks.

Jackson lagged behind the others, and the struggle forced him to quit the competition.

“The course has physically and mentally broken me, and I can’t do any more,” he admitted.

In a waiting room before leaving the base camp, the 21-year-old poker player was allowed a FaceTime call with his famous dad.

“Guess what?” Jackson said through tears. “I tried everything. I did everything. I ate all the food. I did all the ropes courses. I did all the water stuff. I did it all.

“I’m so happy. I’ve learnt so much. It’s changed my life.”

Shane replied: “That’s awesome! You look exhausted.

“You’ve pushed yourself so much. You’ve done unreal mate. We love you, we’re so proud of you. You’ve done unbelievably well.

“Go and smash 20 burgers!”

Despite the premature exit, Jackson said he felt “satisfied” with his accomplishments in the show, progressing further than he anticipated.

“I came on this show to prove to myself that just because of my upbringing, which was very easy, I could go through all the tough stuff, and I did.

“But I’m also just coming away from this with an amazing feeling of, ‘I can’t believe I did this, and I’m so proud of myself for even giving it a crack’.”
