Prime Minister Tony Abbott booed at NRL Grand Final
IT’S one of the great Australian sporting traditions - booing the PM on Grand Final day. And last night’s crowd didn’t disappoint. At least he wasn’t alone.
IT MAY have gone down in history as one of the great grand finals of all time, but for Prime Minister Tony Abbott, his grand final moment wasn’t so glorious.
As the PM was introduced at last night’s NRL trophy presentation, the sold out crowd had one thing to say: boooooo.
Typically, the Prime Minister is present at both AFL and NRL grand finals to shake the players’ hands and present blinged-up premiership rings. And traditionally, the Prime Minister is booed.
Mr Abbott smiled and waved his way through it, but it was Australian Rugby League Commission chairman John Grant who clearly got a kick out of it.

But it’s nice to know the PM’s not alone.
According to News Corp’s music guru Cameron Adams, American band Train were booed upon their introduction as the pre-show entertainment.
Then there was villain James Graham, responsible for breaking Sam Burgess’ cheekbone.
