OLYMPIAN Amanda Bingson is about to throw the hammer down on skinny jeans.

Since her ESPN cover shot for its Body Issue in July, the 25-year-old has been getting a slew of offers from fashion companies asking her to shill for their plus-size brands.

On Monday, the Nike-sponsored athlete was flown to New York by plus-size chain Lane Bryant to participate in the retailer’s new campaign, #PlusIsEqual, which claims 67 per cent of American women are size 14 to 34 and should be better represented in the media.

The latest clothier to enlist the hammer thrower is Slink Jeans, a plus-size apparel company that launched online on Sept. 16, and featured Bingson in a provocative photo shoot on Malibu Beach wearing its jeans and T-shirts.

Bingson says she is thrilled by all of the attention on large women.

“It sucks shopping for bigger clothes, and when I was younger, it was even worse,” she recalls. “You had to go to the third floor of a store all the way towards the back where the bathroom was located.”

Slink Jeans is targeting women with deeper pockets, selling jeans for $139 and T-shirts that carry body-positive messages like “Love Yourself” for as much as $48.

“There is a revolution happening now in the plus sector,” said Slink Jeans founder Albert Dahon, whose brother Joe founded Joe’s Jeans of LA.

Finding fashionable threads is a challenge for Bingson, whose waist is a size 10, while her broad shoulders require a size 16 or 18.

Nike sponsors her for performance wear, but Bingson, who holds the US record in the hammer throw, is fielding offers from other fashion companies.
