WE’VE all found things we forgot we had while moving home but this is next level.

NFL linebacker Sean Weatherspoon — who is returning to the Atlanta Falcons after one year with the Cardinals — made an incredible discovery while packing up his home in Arizona.

Weatherspoon made roughly $3.1 million (AUD) last season, meaning that uncashed cheque is worth more than $180,000. Not exactly like finding loose change in your couch cushions.

The 28-year-old explained his apparent carelessness by revealing the cheque was sent to him after week one of the season — and from that point on his salary was directly deposited into his bank.

“I was on my way home from working out when I received a picture of the checque, dated Sept. 18,’’ Weatherspoon explained in a text message to ESPN.com. “My fiancee found it in a stack of mail, I believe. I vaguely remember getting the hard copy after the Week 1 game. I’m not sure why it wasn’t directly deposited like all my other checks. I’m currently trying to contact (the Cardinals) now. LOL.’’

After spending his first four seasons with the Falcons, Weatherspoon has signed back-to-back one-year deals.

And with a one-year-old daughter and baby boy on the way, he might want to keep a closer eye on his pay slips from now on.

Of course, he’s got nothing on baseballer Manny Ramirez, who once got a concerned phone call from management at the Cleveland Indians after forgetting to cash five consecutive pay cheques.

And then there’s fellow baseballer Rickey Henderson, who famously framed a million dollar cheque he received from the Oakland A’s and hung it on his wall.

That was until the team told him he needed to cash it — and suggested he display a photocopy instead.
