NATE Robinson may well have contributed to the resolution of one of childhood’s biggest stresses.

The former New Orleans Pelicans point guard has been working hard since leaving the NBA, and has his fingers in more than one pie.

On top of playing in Israel’s Premier League with Hapoel Tel Aviv, Robinson still has eyes on a stint on the NFL. His latest venture however, is something a little more creative.

The 31-year-old is working in collaboration with US sock company Strideline to produce a pair of the most accommodating toe-warmers in the sock game.

Introducing The Pocket Sock.

Due to be released on April 23, the decorative socks come complete with a slim-fit pocket on the tube — big enough to fit a credit card.

Speaking with ESPN, Robinson said the invention could be the answer to a daily worry for adults and kids alike.

“[Strideline] are cool guys, and they work hard, and they put together a great idea with this whole pocket sock,” he said.

“They had this idea, and they brought it to me and asked me what I thought about it, and I said, ‘It’s genius.’

“How many people did you know growing up as kids — probably you yourself — who had money your mom gave you and you put it in your sock?

“Guys back in the day, we didn’t have wallets. I never kept my money in my pocket, my money always went in my sock. My key my mom gave me, I put it in my sock — whatever it was.”

No doubt many a penny was lost after being stored in Robinson’s sock.

For those who are a bit too old to fear the wrath of a parent angry over lost sock-kept lunch money, the Pocket Sock still has plenty of applications.

“This is a game-changer. Say you’re in the hotel and you don’t want to run out of the room with your wallet,” Robinson said.

“You can put your hotel room key in your sock or your money and run downstairs right quick. It’s not deactivating because you put your key by your phone. There are different perks to the whole pocket sock. I think it’s pretty cool.”

To Robinson, a good pair of socks is just as important as a well fitting pair of shoes.

“Oh, man, it’s big-time. Trust me. I’ve been around where you have uncomfortable socks, and they just don’t feel right. It’s like, ‘Ugh,’ it’s like a drag,” he said.

But socks aren’t all that are on the three-time NBA Slam Dunk champion’s mind.

Robinson, who played college football for University of Washington, said while playing in the NFL is still a goal very much at the forefront of his mind, he knows the challenge will be huge.

“It’s a big-time dream. Something I’ve always wanted to do, play both sports at the highest level. We’ll see if I can be the first one to really do it,” Robinson said.

“The biggest challenge is probably all the haters, everybody counting me out, somebody not really giving me the opportunity.

“That’s what I think the biggest challenge will be, getting somebody to give me that chance. If somebody gives me that chance, I know they’ll fall in love with the fierce competitor that I am because I catch on quick. Once I do that, then the sky’s the limit.

“I don’t know. It seems like they wouldn’t want me to be the first one to do something like this. That’s a huge challenge.”

The 31-year-old has reportedly been in talks with the a few NFL franchises, including the Seattle Seahawks, about the possibility of arranging a workout. However until he returns from Israel in June, nothing will be made official.
