Kate Ritchie’s husband, Stuart Webb, faces drink driving charges
Kate Richie’s husband, Stuart Webb, had “glazed and bloodshot” eyes when he was nabbed drink driving for the fifth time earlier this year.
Home And Away star Kate Richie’s husband, Stuart Webb, has faced court after being caught drink driving for the fifth time earlier this year.
The former rugby player appeared in Waverly Local Court today after being charged with mid-range drink driving when he was pulled over by police in Sydney’s east on March 26.
Mr Webb, 39, was driving on Avoca St near the intersection of Cuthill St in Randwick when he ran a red light, the police said in court documents.
He was also found to be driving with a suspended licence.
When the officers pulled him over he smelt of alcohol and his eyes were “glazed and bloodshot”.
Police administered a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading.
Mr Webb was taken to Waverly Police Station where a second reading returned a result of 0.083.
According to the police fact sheet Mr Webb claimed he had two schooners of Tooheys New at the Royal Hotel Randwick before getting in his car to drive home.
He told police he didn’t know what time he had started drinking but had finished at 4pm.
Mr Webb also claimed he did not know his licence was suspended and said he had previously visited a Services NSW office.
Court documents also revealed this was not the first time the ex-rugby player had been caught drink driving, with police describing him as a “repeat” offender.
The incident in March was the fifth time he had been caught drink driving since 1999.
He was disqualified from driving for a period of time but that has now come to an end.
Mr Webb was ordered to have an alcohol interlock device fitted to his car for the next two years.
This comes almost a month after he agreed to an apprehended violence order that prevents him from assaulting, threatening, stalking or harassing his wife, Kate Ritchie.
Mr Webb also agreed not to approach or be in the company of his wife “for at least 12 hours after drinking alcohol or taking illicit drugs”.
A police constable originally applied for the AVO on Ritchie’s behalf on October 21 after an incident at the couple’s Randwick home on October 17.
