Jordan De Goey’s New York court case has been adjourned as the stood-down Collingwood star awaits a plea deal that would soften the assault and harassment charges he is facing.

De Goey, 25, faced a US court on Wednesday via videolink, where his lawyer Jacob Kaplan advised a deal was in the works with the prosecution that could involve charges against the AFL footballer being downgraded.

Among the details is the search for a suitable corrective program that De Goey can complete in Australia.

The Collingwood midfielder and his tattoo artist friend Luke Dyson were arrested in New York in October following an alleged incident at the PHD Rooftop Lounge at the Dream Hotel in Manhattan.

The alleged Halloween altercation, which saw De Goey spend a night in jail, is said to have been triggered after bar patrons began stealing De Goey’s drinks.

De Goey had been taking a break from his US training schedule tied to commercial agreement with Monster Energy drinks.

De Goey remains on supervised release, and will now wait for his defence team to hash out a potential deal before he reappears in court on January 28.

De Goey was stood down indefinitely by the Magpies late last year.
