Jaimi Kenny dead: Family, friends pay tribute

A heartbroken Morgan Kenny has paid tribute to her beloved sister Jaimi, who died this week, promising she’ll “never be forgotten”.

Lisa Curry's daughter Jaimi dies age 33

Morgan Kenny has taken to social media to remember Jaimi, her older sister, admitting her death “still doesn’t feel real”.

Her Instagram post, which has been liked by thousands of people, was deeply personal and mirrored similarly heartbroken tributes from her mum, Lisa Curry, and brother, Jett Kenny.

“I am so grateful for the time that I had you as my big sister,” she wrote.

“I am grateful that Flynn got two and a half years with his Aunty. I am grateful for you doing my hair and letting me borrow your clothes.

“I am grateful for you. There is no one like you. I love you so much and will forever miss you.

“Rest now beautiful sister, you will never be forgotten.”

Hundreds of Australians continue to pay tribute to Jaimi after she lost her battle with a long-term illness.

Jaimi, 33, the daughter of former Olympians Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny, died in hospital Monday morning with the couple delivering the heartbreaking news in a joint statement.

Morgan’s tribute came hours after their younger brother Jett also mourned Jaimi.

“I may not have been the best brother to you all the time, I know you thought you weren’t being the big sister I needed all the time, but I do know we loved one another unconditionally all the time,” Kenny wrote.

Jett, 25, is the youngest of the three children with Jaimi born first, followed by Morgan.

Mr Kenny and Ms Curry married in 1986 but amicably split in 2009 after raising their three children.

Ms Curry took to Instagram on Tuesday, saying she could “barely breathe” after losing her daughter.

“Our hearts are completely broken,” she wrote. “Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital (on Monday) morning with her loving family by her side.

“So loved. So beautiful. So kind to everyone … So painful. I can barely breathe.

“Jaimi will forever be remembered as a caring, bright and loving soul who always put others before herself. Her love of flowers, cooking, art, decorating, photography, babies, the beach, and helping others will always be remembered.

“Our hearts are broken and the pain is unbearable but we cherish every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured and so loved first child.”

Fifi Box took a break from her popular radio show on Tuesday morning as she wrangled with the heartbreaking death of her close friend and her daughter’s half-sister.

Box hasn’t publicly spoken about Ms Kenny’s death yet but the pair were known to be quite close.

Mr Kenny’s sister and Jaimi’s aunt Melinda also paid tribute to her niece.

“I am utterly devastated to tell you all that my most beloved niece JK passed away this morning,” Melinda wrote.

“Words can’t express what she meant to me, the one who shared my love of fashion & styling. The one who thought I was cool in my fifties. The one I laughed with & the one who started my Instagram account for me.

“She was a gem & I loved her deeply as we all did.”

Ms Curry’s second husband Mark Tabone said he felt “heavy hearted” and mourned the loss of “a beautiful young lady”.

“As your mother & father weep your loss, I too feel lost and heavy hearted. Nobody should ever lose their child,” Mr Tabone wrote.

“You always put everybody else first. You were gifted with many talents, amazing cook, arts and crafts, writing, and your love and creativity with flowers.

“My job now is to nurture my wife through this unimaginable time.”

TV presenter Amanda Keller replied to Ms Curry’s tribute to Jaimi.

“I can’t imagine. Sending love,” she replied.

Singer and former Neighbours star Natalie Bassingthwaighte also mourned her friend’s loss.

“My dear friend! My heart is hurting for you right now! Sending love and light. Jamie was a beautiful soul inside and out and so very loved. I am here for you,” she commented.

Friend Jacki Hendy said her heart was aching for Ms Curry.

“Such a devastating loss, beyond comprehension,” she said.

“Sending all my love to you and Mark, Grant, Morgan, Jett and your family. Rest peacefully beautiful girl. Holding you in my heart on your journey to heaven.”

Interior designer and TV personality Darren Palmer said he was “so sorry for (her) tragic loss”.

Reality renovation TV stars Kyal and Kara also said they were “so sorry to hear, sending you all so much love Lisa”.

TV presenter and interior designer Barry Du Bois gave his condolences and said he was “sending love and strength”.
