Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson has never been this huge
HAFTHOR Julius Bjornsson — The Mountain from Game of Thrones — looks insanely scary in his latest photo shoot.
A MAN famous for being massive has grown even more massive.
Hafthor Julius Bjornsson — The Mountain from Game of Thrones — looks even bigger in his latest photo shoot than when he first starting making headlines as the meatiest human on the planet.
The 2.06m, 180kg strongman champion was snapped by Men’s Health UK Magazine where he looks more cartoon character than human.
It’s those arms that clearly reveal he was not born of this earth.
The 26-year-old from Reykjavik, Iceland, has reportedly revealed his latest workout programs in the Men’s Health edition to be released in the United Kingdom on Thursday.
In the article, Bjornsson also elaborates on his light-hearted sparring session with UFC megastar Conor McGregor.
According to The Daily Mirror, Bjornsson said he never realised McGregor was actually seriously trying to wrestle and trade punches with him.
“I was in Ireland shooting for Game of Thrones and my friend [Icelandic UFC fighter] Gunnar Nelson was training in Dublin with Conor,” he said.
“I asked if I could check out a session. I knew he had a big fight coming up, so I was gentle with him.”
It’s not difficult to see why Bjornsson was runner-up at the 2014 World Strongest Man competition and has finished third three times.
He has also won numerous Icelandic and European competitive weightlifting competitions.
Incredible, considering he fell into weightlifting by accident when recovering from an ankle injury he suffered during his basketball career in Iceland.
In an interview with GQ Magazine earlier this year, Bjornsson revealed how he transformed from a huge human into the freakish hulk he is today.
“The biggest changes were that I didn’t do much cardio anymore, and I put more food into my diet,” he said.
“It’s just like constantly work for me: I have to eat every two hours to maintain my body mass. It is not easy. When I’m filming, I always have to have breaks to eat.
“I eat a lot of sweet potatoes, a lot of meat, fish, chicken, good fats like cocoa butter, almonds. I love greens, like spinach, avocado, broccoli.
“I eat very healthy overall — but because of my weight, I need fast carbs, easy carbs. So maybe before a training session or after a training session, I eat what I want.”
He eats every two hours — generally consuming up to 10,000 calories a day.
It’s not easy trying to get massive when your frame already closely resembles a freight train.
He is returning as The Mountain that rides when Game of Thrones season 6 begins on April 25.
