Australian boxer Danny Green has praised Barry Hall’s tip-top rig ahead of tonight’s highly-anticipated fight in Melbourne.

Hall has been training intensely ahead of the Code War against former NRL player Paul Gallen and his hours in the gym have clearly paid off.

The former footy spearhead has been posting regular workout videos as he ramps up preparation for the fight and he’s looking jacked.

Green applauded the former AFL superstar for his tight body on the Today Show.

“There’s more fat in a chip than Barry Hall, he’s in incredible nick,” Green said.

“Both boys are in incredible physical condition. It’s shaping up to be a blockbuster, it’s been an incredible build-up. It’s so exciting.”

Today sports presenter Tony Jones agreed with Green, explaining how Hall’s physique will work in his favour during the fight.

“Everyone was gobsmacked by just how ripped Barry Hall is. He’s much taller, he seems much leaner, he’s got a far better reach,” Jones said.

Jones bravely ridiculed Paul Gallen ahead of tonight’s bout, mocking his poor trash-talking.

Gallen ripped into Hall at Thursday’s weigh-in, outlining a genuine, fully-fledged hatred for the former AFL star.

“We genuinely don’t like each other and, to be honest, I can’t see us having a beer as it’s gone past the point of us having any kind of friendship after it,” he said.

“I’m in there to hurt him and he’s there to hurt me.”

Jones — with tongue in cheek — labelled the former Sharks captain a “sooky-la-la”.

“Paul Gallen was a bit of a sooky-la-la yesterday, saying they used to be mates, but he won’t have a beer with him afterwards,” Jones said.

“You’ve got to take most of that trash-talking with a grain of salt. It is all good fodder.”

Today host Tom Steinfort was quick to remind Jones who he was criticising, saying: “Why don’t you get in the ring and call Gallen a sooky-la-la, Tony?”

Although the odds are heavily against Hall, Green argued a defiant stand against Gallen’s “big bombs” in the opening round could determine the outcome.

“The test will come when Paul Gallen lands one of those big bombs on Barry Hall’s chin,” Green said.

“What Barry Hall does in that first minute, that defining moment, whether he handles it and gets back to work or he folds and crumbles will determine how the fight goes.

“It’s just so intriguing and we don’t know what’s going to happen.

“It’s a big step up for Barry Hall. Full credit to him for taking up this fight.”

Hall recently expressed uncertainty about his future in boxing, suggesting that tonight’s debut fight could potentially be his last.

“I’ll make a call afterwards — it’s results-based but one thing it has done has been really taxing on my partner and my family,” Hall told AAP.

“I can’t be the dad I want to be and be supportive and help with the kids too much because I’m away training all the time so it’s put a fair weight on them.”
