Former NRL star Daniel Vidot has made a dramatic live television debut in the WWE.

The 30-year-old impressed with some of his athleticism before he was beaten into submission by former world champion Sheamus in a bloody, short match.

The one-on-one match was one of the feature events of Saturday morning’s (AEST) SmackDown episode.

Vidot, who walked out with the official wrestling name of “Daniel Vidot” after changing his name from “The Samoan Ghost”, was forced to endure a world of hurt as the Celtic Warrior landed a series of punishing shots.

Sheamus ended the match with a Brogue Kick that left Vidot crumpled on the deck, defenceless.

Despite being pulverised quickly, the dramatic rise of Vidot to earn a spot on the globally broadcast SmackDown series has impressed many wrestling commentators.

Vidot was only signed to the WWE in 2018 and was recently promoted to join NXT and has wrestled in other events that were not televised.

His debut TV match is a major milestone for Vidot, who only left rugby league at the end of the 2017 season with the Gold Coast Titans.

Daniel Vidot originally wanted to be The Samoan Ghost.

The former Broncos, Dragons, Raiders and Titans star was just thrilled to achieve the major TV milestone.

“When people tell you it can’t be done, do it,” Vidot wrote on Twitter after the match. “SMACKDOWN debut — 4.24.2020 #blessed.”

He was celebrated across Twitter on Saturday, despite the one-sided nature of his defeat.
