Cycling fans spot something unbelievable on overhead vision
It was a normal piece of footage during one of the world’s biggest races, but eagle-eyed fans spotted something remarkable.
Police made a lucky drugs bust after a marijuana farm was spotted by cameras and picked up by eagle-eyed fans during the Vuelta a España bike race.
As riders roll around the Iberian country for three weeks, a different kind of rolling was prevented — but only after a plantation was spotted by a broadcast TV helicopter.
As the helicopter tracked the cyclists during the final moments of the 8th stage of the race on Saturday, the camera pannedover the rooftop in Igualada in Catalonia in northeastern Spain revealing the plants spread across two plantations.
Cycling has had its fair share of dopers in the past like Lance Armstrong, but this was a totally different drugs bust associated with the sport — which has largely cleaned up its act.

Catalonia’s regional police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra, opened an investigation after snippets of the video — which was aired live — went viral on social media and officers seized the roughly 40 marijuana plants, a spokeswoman for the force said.
Over a dozen marijuana plants can be seen in two different sections of a rooftop.
Neighbours had already warned cops that there was suspicious behaviour from the occupants of the flat, who had emptied the property of all furniture and left it in the street.

However, suspects have not been identified and no arrests have been made.
Whether or not the occupants can even be arrested is ambiguous because in Spanish law there is no law against growing for self use.
However, the occupants could face a £27,000 fine because the plants were visible to the public.
The Vuelta is one of the three major European professional cycling stage races along with the Giro d’Italia and the Tour deFrance.
