The 27-year-old was the leading runscorer of BBL12, striking 458 runs at an average of 35.23.
But his efforts weren’t enough to ensure a finals berth for the Strikers, who finished seventh on the BBL ladder with five wins.
Short stepped out on the blue carpet alongside Wilson in their first public appearance, with the couple sharing several happy snaps from the awards night on social media.
“Ending BBL12 thanks for all the messages and support, hopefully bigger things next year,” Short posted on Instagram.”
“Deserves the hardest launch,” Wilson wrote in her post along with a rocket emoji.
Wilson, 28, is a stalwart of the Australian swimming team and previously dated Kyle Chalmers earlier in her career.
The 28-year-old has won two Olympic gold medals as part of the women’s 4x100m freestyle at Rio and Tokyo Olympics and is a current holder of five relay world records.
She trains in Adelaide in the same squad as fellow Australian swimmers Chalmers and Matthew Temple.
Short had an excellent BBL campaign with both bat and ball, with the highlight coming in the Strikers’ record-breaking run chase against the Hobart Hurricanes.
Chasing Hobart’s monster total of 229, Chris Lynn struck a 29-ball 64 but he was overshadowed by opener Short, who brought up his 100 off 59 balls with the matchwinning four.
Short was also the Strikers’ stand-in captain for the first time ever after Peter Siddle was ruled out with injury.
