Australian boxing legend Jeff Fenech has been rushed to hospital in Thailand as he battles pneumonia in intensive care.

Fenech was rushed to hospital on Friday night and was told by doctors he came close to dying.

Fox Sports’ Ben Damon tweeted he had spoken to Fenech and that the former world champion was “coughing up blood”.

Fenech flew to Thailand last week with a group of 10 boxers before his health became a concern on Friday before an urgent ambulance was called.

He was transported immediately to intensive care where he was placed on several intravenous drips.

“I’m in ICU in the emergency ward. My lungs are gone. I’m in all this pain,” Fenech said to The Daily Telegraph.

Fenech’s eldest daughter Jessica is set to get married on Saturday week with the family hopeful Jeff will be in good enough health to fly home for the wedding.

Aussie boxer Brock Jarvis who flew to Thailand for the camp with Fenech was the one to cell Jeff’s wife Suzee and tell her the news.

Suzee was reportedly waiting to talk to a doctor to gather further information before she potentially jumps on a plane to Bangkok.
