AFL 2019: Every club’s AFL MVP nominees, best first-year player, most courageous player, best captain
Patrick Dangerfield is one of the contenders for the 2019 Brownlow Medal, but his teammates don’t think he’s in their best three players.
Snubbed!
Patrick Dangerfield might be seen as one of the leading contenders to take out the 2019 Brownlow Medal.
But his Geelong teammates couldn’t find a place for him in their three nominees for this year’s AFL Players’ Association MVP Award.

For the second year running, no members of Geelong’s ‘Holy Trinity’ were nominated for the prestigious award, with Mark Blicavs, Tom Hawkins and Tim Kelly nominated by Cats players.
The nomination process for the MVP takes place over two stages. Firstly, players nominate three teammates for the award.
The nominees are then presented to all AFL players to vote on and ultimately decide the winner. Players cannot vote for their own teammates in stage two of the process.
Brisbane’s Lachie Neale and Carlton’s Patrick Cripps are among the leading contenders to take out the Leigh Matthews Trophy. The best captain, best first year player, most courageous and 22under22 team also reviewed.
The AFL Players’ Association’s 2019 AFL Players’ MVP Awards will be held on Thursday August 29.
