Melbourne’s AAMI Park has been confirmed as the venue for Super Rugby Pacific’s 2023 “Super Round”.

It’s the second year in succession AAMI Park will host the March 3-5 event that will feature the competition’s 12 teams.

Double-headers will be played on each of the three days, with the Crusaders – the defending competition champions – to open the round with a clash against the Highlanders.

The Melbourne Rebels are also in action on the opening night with a game against the Hurricanes.

On Saturday, March 4, Moana Pasifika will meet the Chiefs ahead of a clash between Fijian Drua and the NSW Waratahs.

Super Round will conclude the following day when the Blues take on the Brumbies and the Western Force meet the Queensland Reds.

“It is fantastic that based on last year’s success we are heading to Melbourne once again for Super Round,” SANZAAR chief executive Brendan Morris said.

“The concept of having all the matches at one venue, in one city, over a single weekend is a big attraction for the tournament and is appealing to our fans.”

Victorian Tourism, Sport and Major Events Minister Steve Dimopoulos said: “As Australia’s major events capital, Melbourne knows how to put on a show and next year’s Super Round Melbourne is going to be an epic weekend of sport, music, and entertainment.

“We look forward to welcoming thousands of fans from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific for this supercharged event.”

The entertainment will include a performance from the Fabulous Caprettos, featuring Daryl Braithwaite, Russell Morris, Jack Jones and Rai Thistlethwayte.
