Oscar Piastri opens up on high life living as a bonafide Formula 1 star

Oscar Piastri is living a life no other 23-year-old Aussie could ever imagine. And the rising star has now revealed the crazy perks that come with it.

Life in the fast lane with Oscar Piastri

Neighbours with Bono, travelling the world in first class, a multi-millionaire at only 23, Oscar Piastri is living the absolute high life.

Sure, it helps that he’s taken the Formula 1 world by storm and has stamped himself as a genuine championship contender in just his second F1 season in world sport’s most exclusive club.

With two victories on the board after 39 race starts, experts are calling the Melbourne-born driver a future World Champion, something only two other Aussies have been able to do.

Like most of the other drivers on the F1 grid, Piastri now calls Monaco home – for the three months he actually has away from the track.

Used to keeping a relatively low profile, the McLaren star has now opened up to Code Sports on his crazy lifestyle, one of the rich and famous.

“I get to see a lot of the world,” Piastri said.

“I think last season, we added it up, and it was maybe 100 (nights at home), so just over three months.”

“And for me, my first season of F1, that was part of the experience, really going to a lot of new places. Mexico, Brazil, some of the Middle Eastern countries, a lot of places in Asia, Japan, Singapore, stuff like that.”

“So it’s very cool.”

But for the cool and collected Piastri, the expensive toys and exotic locations don’t prove to be a distraction for the dream “job” at hand.

“For me, my job is not really a job. It’s very much in inverted commas that I call it a job,” Piastri said.

“It’s a helluva lot of fun. It is busy. And there’s certainly parts of the job that aren’t as glamorous as maybe people think.”

“But when you get to drive the fastest cars in the world, then, yeah, it’s a pretty cool job.”

“We don’t just rock up to the track ten minutes before the session and jump in,” he said.

“We’re there usually three hours, four hours before the first session of the day, and we won’t leave the track till probably three or four hours after the last session of the day. So it’s a long time spent there every day.”
