Viewers stunned by threesome in Olympics opening ceremony
Viewers who tuned into the Paris Olympics opening ceremony got a serious surprise when a pre-recorded segment took quite the turn.
The opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics was typically French, in more ways than one.
Starting in the afternoon local time, the opening ceremony began with a mixture of pre-recorded scenes which included an apparent tribute to France’s renowned sexual proclivities.
It appears there was a scene depicting the start of a saucy ménage à trois.
There also was Lady Gaga’s performance, a re-enactment of Marie Antoinette’s beheading, French football legend Zinedine Zidane was shown running through the streets of Paris while carrying the Olympic torch, while a mysterious masked figure featured regularly.
But viewers were perhaps most taken aback by the pre-recorded snippet of three people canoodling in France’s Bibliotheque National, or national library.
They even shut the door on viewers as it looked like they were about to do the deed.
The freedom to love is no less sacred than the freedom to think.

One viewer wrote on X: “The threesome in the Reading Room at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France was quite the surprise.”
A second said: “Casual polyamory during the Olympics opening ceremony??? I’m here for it, not gonna lie.”
A third said: “The androgynous poly throuple in the Olympics opening ceremony okay slay.”
Another added: “Were we interrupting something??? A possible threesome. WHAT IS HAPPENING?”
The official Olympic Games X account shared an image of the trio with a quote from legendary author Victor Hugo: “The freedom to love is no less sacred than the freedom to think.”
Presenter Beth Fisher wrote: “Only the French could squeeze a threesome into an opening ceremony.”
Another said: “Okay was not expecting the threesome content but you go France, have fun.”
The opening ceremony was a rather drawn-out affair, stretching out over five hours from the afternoon into the evening in Paris.
Flagbearers including Australia’s Jess Fox and the USA’s LeBron James had to slog it out in the rain as nations cruised along the Seine in the rain.
The scattered performances of 3000 dancers, river monuments and symbolic individual river crossings also left some things to be desired with viewers blasting the spectacle.
“I’m actually embarrassed on the behalf of France, this is going down as the worst opening ceremony in history,” one Twitter commentator posted.
One wrote: “I’m sorry but this has to be the worst Olympic opening ceremony in memory. It’s an interesting idea bringing the athletes in on boats but it looks rubbish and misses the roar of the crowd. Sorry but not for me.”
Another posted: “This may legit be the worst opening ceremony I’ve ever seen. And such a missed opportunity with such an amazing backdrop”.
