Viewers are obsessed with Sun Yang’s teeth
SUN Yang has won two medals in Rio and been embroiled in a stoush with Mack Horton, but his teeth took centre stage today.
YOU know what, China? All bets are off since you decided to call us an “uncivilised ex-prison”.
If you want to take cheap pot shots, then expect the same in return. You’ve only got yourself to blame.
After swimmer Sun Yang won gold in the 200m freestyle final on Tuesday, social media lit up. But not because of his swimming.
Instead, everyone wanted to know what was up with his teeth.
Well, Sun Yang looks like he’s receiving a similar amount of attention, but for the opposite reason. Check out how social media reacted following James Bond villain Jaws’ — sorry, we mean Yang’s — latest victory.

Sun Yang carves up that pool almost as much as his teeth do his top lip. #RioOlympics2016 #SunYang #trimetazidine @Olympics @camholley

I'm so glad Sun Yang got the gold in that event. Now he can sell the medal and fix his teethð

That wasn’t all people laughed at, though. After getting out of the water, the 24-year-old tried to throw his swimming cap into the stands, but failed miserably.
Instead, he managed to throw it back over his head and into the pool.
Sun Yang tried to throw his cap in crowd and it flung back over his own head into the pool.

Sun Yang playing to the crowd here. Tried to throw cap in crowd and, um, threw in backward. Think 50 Cent's first pitch. Wow that was bad

Sun Yang is to cap throw as 50 Cent is to first pitch. #fail #rio2016 #swimming pic.twitter.com/zV15NPMs39

Even when Sun Yang is a winner, he's a loser. How about that attempted swim cap throw. #Gold #Rio2016 #swimming

Yang’s become an easy target given his feud with Aussie golden boy Mack Horton. After beating Yang for the gold in the 400m freestyle, Horton took aim at the Chinese star, saying he had a rivalry with everyone who’s tested positive to a drug test.
He also had a crack after Yang allegedly splashed him during practice: “I didn’t respond because I don’t have time for drug cheats.”
But in the end, Yang’s laughs will surely drown out those of his keyboard warrior critics. So far in Rio he’s picked up one gold medal, one silver, and he’s a favourite to pick up some more bling in the 1500m on the weekend.
Combine that with the two golds, one silver and one bronze he won in London four years ago and he’s achieved more than most could ever muster in a lifetime.
