Fans are calling for a movie to be made about two tennis stars who won Olympic gold for their country just weeks after breaking up as an off-court couple.

Czechia’s Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac shared a kiss as they won the mixed doubles event in an epic tie against China’s Zhang Zhizhen and Wang Xinyu.

Siniakova, 28, and Machac, 23, had dated since 2020 but it was confirmed in the lead up to Paris they had parted ways.

“Yes, it’s true, but this is my private matter. Of course we will play, we are professionals,” Siniakova said at the time.

They stared down defeat at Roland Garros before rallying to take gold in a match tie break 6-2, 5-7, 10-8.

But it was a tender moment they shared on the court that got fans most excited, with the ex-couple showing their affection in the city of love.

It prompted a reporter to ask the question everything wanted to know the answer to after the match; “are you still together?”.

“That’s our personal life, so you don’t need to know that,” Siniakova said. “We like when you are confused.”

Machac added: “This is top secret.”

It almost reads like a Hollywood script brought to life, and social media was buzzing with suggestions for the story to be made into a movie.

“New Hallmark movie just dropped,” one fan wrote.

Another had a very detailed proposal for film producers: “And here’s your movie plot.

“After the Olympics, despite winning gold, they break up. 10 years passes.

“Now Katerina is 39 & single. Nearing her 40th birthday she is coaching a younger tennis player, when she runs into her old tennis partner.

“Title of the movie: 40-Love.”

The win saw Siniakova back up her gold medal win in the women’s doubles from the Tokyo Games in 2021.

She also recently won the women’s doubles title at Wimbledon alongside Taylor Townsend.
