Liz Cambage says she’s ready to give Andrew Bogut ‘an education’
THEY may have hugged it out but Aussie basketballers Liz Cambage and Andrew Bogut still have issues to sort out, with Cambage saying Bogut will ‘hate me’ the next time they meet.
LIZ Cambage is not finished with Andrew Bogut just yet.
The pair’s Twitter feud had the nation talking in the lead-up to the Olympics before they crossed paths in the athletes’ village and hugged it out . . . or so Bogut believes.
Cambage, who led the Opals to their second victory today over Turkey, has a different version of events and is keen to set the record straight with the Boomers centre.
And she also wants to have a crack at him one-on-one on the basketball court.
Cambage claims it was Bogut who instigated the hug, not her as he’d stated.
“The girls showed me the article (on the Twitter war) because I’m not on any social media at the moment,” Cambage said.
“And can I just say he hugged me first.
“It was funny we were leaving laundry and I was like, ‘Oh, here we go’.
“At the end of the day we’re teammates and people read a lot into what happens on Twitter but it’s really not the real world.
“People can literally say whatever they want on Twitter but you don’t know whether they are being sarcastic or real.
“But at the end of the day I feel like I still need to educate Andrew, I mean, sorry Bogut, on police brutality and racial profiling from police officers in Australia.
“So if we get some time and I catch him in dining hall, he’s probably going to hate me because he is going to get an education.”
The argument between the pair began when Bogut sent out a tweet mocking those protesting against police brutality in Melbourne last month, and the Australian big-man responded to Cambage’s ‘education’ line with another dig on Twitter.
. @ecambage looking forward to it. Should I bring my pencil case and some paper? Im guessing I will need a graphics calculator also?

Australian rapper and indigenous rights activist, Briggs, responded telling the NBA star to watch the latest Four Corners episode that sent shock waves across the world and resulted in a royal commission into Northern Territory’s juvenile detention system.
Bogut responded to Briggs saying that he regretted his earlier comments about the protest, prompting Cambage to join in the discussion.
They then exchanged barbs with Bogut taking a shot at Cambage for missing last year’s Rio Olympics qualifiers due to prior commitment at music festival, Splendour in the Grass.
In the lead-up to the Boomers opening win over France in Rio, Bogut revealed how the pair had crossed paths and sorted out their differences.
“She gave me a massive hug and we just laughed about it to be quite honest with you,” he said.
Cambage also threw up the idea of a one-on-one showdown to see who is the best post player in the country.
“He is an amazing post player even though I think we could go one-on-one one day in the key,” she said.
“But it’s all good, at the end of the day we just want both teams to do well.”
The Opals were forced to work harder than expected to overcome Turkey who led for most of the match before the Aussies got the win 61-56 with Cambage again dominant with 22 points.
